Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport is
making significant changes to its services as it
merges its international and domestic services.
Airports Company South Africa (Asca) has announced
that from early April the airport will not longer be
divided between international and domestic
terminals. Instead the airport will be divided into
two terminals – Terminal A and Terminal B. Airlines
who service both international and domestic
destinations will process passengers at the same
check-in desks making for a more efficient service.
This will be beneficial for international passengers
transiting through the airport to other South
African holiday destinations or on their return
home.
The transition starts with the opening of
Terminal B which will be the new home of South
Africa’s national airline South African Airways
providing both international and domestic services.
Asca has confirmed that the airport is committed to
ensuring that passengers taking Southern Africa
holidays will not be affected the changes and the
new terminal information will be signposted
throughout the airport.
OR Tambo is ‘the busiest airport on the African
continent, with a capacity of over 18-million
passengers a year’. It is a major gateway from
international destinations for tourists taking
Southern Africa holidays.
2 by 2 Holidays are specialists in Southern Africa holidays
to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia,
Mozambique and Mauritius.
