Travel Industry Awaits Indaba 2009
Published: 29/04/2009
The eyes of the international travel industry will turn to
South Africa next month at Indaba 2009. Billed as “the biggest tourism marketing
events on the African calendar” Indaba 2009 will take place from 9 – 12 May 2009
at the Albert Luthuli Convention Center, Durban with the highlight being
Africa’s World Travel Awards ceremony.
Voted Africa’s top travel show winning World Travel Award last year Indaba 2009
showcases Southern Africa holidays with travel industry exhibitors, delegates and
journalists from around the world. Last year more than 13,200 attendees
participated in the event including over 600 South African and international
journalists.
Tourism figures for Southern Africa holidays remain strong despite the global
economic downturn boosted by South Africa’s reputation for being a value for
money destination. Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk remains confidents
that South Africa will achieve it’s target of 10 million visitors by 2010”. This
goal will certainly be boosted by South Africa hosting the World Cup football
next year.
