Day 1
You will be met at Pemba Airport and transferred 3-hours to the small coastal village of Mucojo, where you will board a traditional Arab dhow and sail with your guide, chef and crew to unnhabited Mogundula Island.

Mogundula is one of the prettiest islands in the spectacular Quirimbas Archipelago and a wonderful base from which to explore the area. Your mobile eco-friendly bush camp will be set up by your crew under the shade of beautiful chestnut trees, whilst you swim and snorkel on the magnificent beach. You will sleep on a stretcher bed with foam mattress with sleeping bag & towels provided, and enjoy delicious seafood meals prepared by your chef. When you leave, no trace will remain of your camp.

All food is provided, but you will have to pay for all drinks, including bottled water, and any marine park fees.
Day 2
At leisure to relax on the pristine beaches of Mogundula Island.

Enjoy swimming and snorkelling in the warm turquoise waters and bird watching along the shores of the island's sacred lake. If you prefer, you can sail by dhow to the Pangane Peninsula or Macaloe Island.
Day 3
Today sail by dhow into the clear blue waters to explore the Quirimbas Archipelago.

Enjoy snorkeling amongst the pristine corals or sea kayaking in the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Tonight you will camp in the open Mozambique bush near the mouth of the Ulumbwa River, where rural fishing villages dot the shore.
Day 4
Enjoy an early morning sail up the Ulumbwa River estuary, viewing the wide variety of bird life and mangroves that thrive in this area. Also visit a local fishing village to observe their way if life.

Continue to enjoy clear turquoise waters and beautiful scenery as we sail to Matemo Island, before returning to our camp Ulumbwa.
Day 5
This morning your dhow safari concludes, as you sail from Ulumbwa to Ibo Island.

Check into your lodge and relax on this enchanting island in the Quirimbas archipelago, with its 18th century forts, dilapidated colonial villas and crumbling, moss-covered buildings.
Days 6 To 7
Enjoy lazy days exploring historic Ibo Island, which used to be the main Portuguese trading centre in northern Mozambique and where time appears to have stood still.

We suggest starting with a cultural walking tour of the quiet streets of this fascinating island, with its moss-covered buildings. Then take a 20-minute boat ride to sunbathe and swim from an unspoilt sandbar beach and snorkel among dolphins and fish of all descriptions.

Scuba divers can explore shipwrecks and the pristine Mozambique Reef in warm water and fishermen can try their hand at light tackle, fly-fishing or exhilarating deep sea game fishing in waters considered to be the best for marlin in the world. You can also kayak in the mangroves and take Arab dhow rides at sunset.

Day 8
This morning transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Pemba Airport and onward flight home.
