Day 1
You will be met at East London Airport and transferred to your hotel in this small city, which boasts the only river port in South Africa.

Check into your hotel and relax in your friendly beach surroundings.
Day 2
You will be collected from your East London hotel transferred 1.5-hours to Kei Mouth to join your exciting horse riding safari along South Africa's gloriously unspoilt Wild Coast.

Meet the other riders at Kei Mouth Country Club for a light lunch and to change into your riding clothes. In the afternoon the first part of our adventure begins, as we venture across the Great Kei River. We load the horses onto the pontoon and ride onto the beaches of the Wild Coast.

A relaxing ride along the beach brings us to Trennery's around sunset.

PACKING LIST: Jodhpurs, chaps or long boots, hard hat, shorts, walking shoes or boots to ride in, flip flops, light long sleeved shirts with collars to protect you from the sun while riding, T-shirts and tops, light long trousers or jeans, smart outfit for dinner at the hotels, one fleece.to ride in and another nice one for the evenings, light weight rain jacket/wind breaker that will be tied to your saddle, sun hat (that stays on), sun block, swimming costume and towel, torch, camera, binoculars, battery charger, adaptor, reading material, DVD movies to watch in the evenings. Please note is customary to leave a tip for house maids and other staff that help look after you.
Day 3
Today is about exploring and ensuring that you are well matched to your horse.

Our morning trail takes us through a kaleidoscope of rural Xhosa villages, mysterious waterfalls, rolling hillsides and of course a mandatory beach canter.

After a hearty pub lunch, more waterfalls and long canters over the endless hillsides ensure that we have a good first day of riding!
Day 4
Heading north, today we leave Trennerys and ride along the beach to Wavecrest.

Depending on the tide, we either cross the river at the mouth or turn inland and ride across country through rural villages, to cross the Kobonqaba River further upstream. The horses will set a steady pace at trot and canter, as we head towards Wavecrest and arrive in time for lunch.

During the afternoon, riders can enjoy a relaxed outride along the ocean edge and through ancient sand dune forests. Enjoy drinks on the deck at sunset, as we sit and watch the great crested cranes come in to roost at the end of a perfect day.
Day 5
Our departure time this morning is dictated by the tides.

It is a fantastic 3-hour ride up the beach and back across country, through rolling hills and traditional Xhosa villages, or the other way around depending on the tides. Either way you get to ride on the hard wet beach at low tide – the gallops are exhilarating! We arrive back at our hotel in time for lunch or, if the weather and tides are favourable, we may take a picnic lunch.

In the afternoon we have a choice of activities. You can take a boat trip to explore the stunning mangrove estuary of the Nxaxo River, hike, fish, or just kick back and relax in the jacuzzi. This afternoon is flexible, as there are so many options to experience.
Day 6
This morning we leave Wavecrest and start our journey back to Kei Mouth.

We ride inland, crossing the river high up and away from the infl;uence of the tides. The slay paths and tracks offer great canters, as we wind our way back to the beach.

We ride back past Trennery’s and call in at Seagulls Beach Hotel for a great pub lunch. We then head towards Kei Mouth and the pontoon crossing, before dropping the horses off at the paddocks around 4pm. The hotel shuttle will be there to meet and transfer us to Miarestate Hotel & Spa situated on a private game reserve.
Day 7
Rise early this morning with a quick cup of tea or coffee, with a rusk, to get us going and up into the saddle.

Enjoy a leisurely 3-hour ride exploring this beautiful private game reserve in search of giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, impala, blesbuck, kudu, bushbuck, warthog and a multitude of other antelope species. The rolling hills offer lovely canters and stunning views across the bushveld and over cliffs into the crashing sea.

Brunch is served at the lodge in the late morning, after which there is time for a siesta or spa treatment. Or stroll around the lodge and enjoy bird watching or seeing game grazing in the gardens. An optional late afternoon sunset ride is available for those who need more saddle time!
Day 8
After breakfast, we have another opportunity to explore our private game reserve on horseback.

The lodge staff will prepare the ultimate picnic bush lunch so we can enjoy being truly laid back and relax into African time. The views on the reserve are breath-taking and this is the perfect wind down after a lovely week of beach and bush riding.

After hacking back to stables, the rest of the afternoon is free to enjoy one of the optional activities offered by the lodge, or simply relax and be pampered in the spa.
Day 9
This morning there is the opportunity to enjoy one last ride, before transferring 1-hour to East London Airport for your flight home.
