QPE7C: Accessible Travel - Cape Town + Winelands +
Herman
Day 1
Arrive Cape Town Airport and meet your Cape
Town holiday host, who will transfer you to your luxury
hotel conveniently situated near the Victoria &
Alfred Waterfront.
After a short orientation tour of Cape Town check
in, settle-in and relax in your magnificent
surroundings. Balance of day at leisure.
Day 2
After
a leisurely breakfast, today your host will collect you
for a full day tour of Cape Town. Weather
permitting, we start by ascend Table Mountain by
cable car, to enjoy one of the world’s most famous views
(wheel chair accessible).
Enjoy a tour through the Mother City, viewing sites of
historical and architectural significance, and continue
to beautiful Kirstenbosch Gardens, renowned for
its fynbos and protea.
We complete our day with a visit to Hout Bay,
where we enjoy a short boat trip to view Cape Fur seals
at Seal Island (you will be lifted onto the boat
in your wheelchair - not suitable for heavy or power
chair).
Day 3
Today your host will collect you for a full day tour to
the beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.
At naval Simonstown we stop at Boulders Beach to
view the resident penguin colony and continue to Cape
Point where we hope to see ostrich, baboons and
perhaps even dolphins or whales in season (August to
November). At Cape Point we take a funicular ride to the
Old Lighthouse (wheelchair accessible), before
returning via spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive.
Day 4
Transfer
to the beautiful Cape Winelands, travelling
through the scenic Franschhoek Valley where a
handful of French Huguenot refugees started South
Africa’s now famous wine industry.
Visit the historic university town of Stellenbosch
including its Period House museum and one Wine Estate
of your choice – sampling as you go! Enjoy a picnic
lunch at a Wine Estate, with a second wine tasting in
the afternoon!
Check in to your guesthouse in Stellenbosch and
relax under giant oak trees, whilst savouring the fine
foods and local wines of this region.
Day 5
Enjoy a second day in the Cape Winelands,
visiting more of the famous wine estates of
Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl.
You may select the wine estates you wish to visit, or
allow your guide to make recommendations.
Also explore the historic towns of Stellenbosch
and Franschhoek. Browse amongst the interesting
craft shops and street markets and visit one of the
fascinating museums.
Evening at leisure in the Winelands, where you have the
opportunity of dining at one of several outstanding
restaurants.
Day 6
Today
your host who will transfer you to the small seaside
town of Hermanus, a scenic coastal drive of just
under 2-hours travelling via Gordon’s Bay and False Bay.
From July to November, southern right and humpback
whales come here to breed and this is considered the
best location for land-based Whale Watching in
the world.
Check in to your guest house, relax and enjoy the
wonderful views.
Day 7
Enjoy the beauty of the coastline today, as you explore
Hermanus and whale watch from the cliffs, which
usually offer excellent viewing.
Once severely endangered, these magnificent creatures of
the deep are now breeding successfully in the area due
to a major international conservation effort.
Enjoy the fynbos and bird life. There are also many
interesting shops in the village and an open-air craft
market in season.
Day 8
Transfer 2-hours to Cape Town Airport for your
flight home.
