When to go to Mexico

Mexico can be visited all year round, as it is a vast country with many different regional weather patterns, but November to April is generally regarded as the best time to visit, as this is the dry season.

The rainy season in the south runs from May until October, when tropical thunderstorms occur, but these usually only last a couple of hours before the weather clears. The Caribbean coast can be affected by hurricanes from June to November.

The coldest months are December to February, when there is snow in the high northern mountains.

The most famous festival in Mexico is the 'Day of the Dead', which is celebrated on Halloween (31 October), with particularly splendid street displays in Oaxaca and Merida.
