KwaZulu Natal has a hot tropical climate and can be visited all year round. The Drakensberg Mountains have an alpine climate, with warm summers and cold but sunny winters with some snow.
The best time to visit Zululand and the coast is from April to September (the cooler, drier winter months). October to March are the summer months, when it can be very hot with thunder showers.
Scuba diving is good all year round, although the seas can be choppy in September. From November to February turtles nest along the Zululand coast and whale sharks & migrating whales can be seen. From November to January ragged-tooth sharks can also be seen.
