When to go to KwaZulu Natal

KwaZulu Natal has a hot sub-tropical climate and can be visited all year round.

The best time to visit is during the dry winter months (April to September), which are warm in the day but cool at night. The summer months (October to March) are hot, with heavy rains.

Turtles nest along the northern Zululand coast from November to January, when migrating whales may also be seen. Scuba diving is good all year round, except for September when the seas can be choppy.

The Drakensberg has a fresh mountain climate, with warm summers and cold but sunny winters, with some snow.
