Complete your holiday relaxing at a luxury lodge on the Mozambique side of Lake Malawi (where it is called Lake Niassa), with star bed sleep-out option. All transfers & light aircraft flights included.

Day 1
You will be met at Livingstone Airport and transferred to your hotel on the banks of the Zambezi River, near the mighty Victoria Falls.

Check in, settle in and relax whilst you catch your first glimpses of the magnificent Smoke That Thunders first discovered by Dr. David Livingstone and still one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The flow of water over the Victoria Falls is greatest from February to June following the summer rains and is a magnificent sight.

Please note that the Zambian side of the falls dries up in October and November, when it is better to visit the Zimbabwean side.
Day 2
Today we recommend exploring on foot the mighty Victoria Falls and its rainforest.

Afterwards you can participate in optional activities such as a helicopter flight over the falls or an elephant interaction.

In the late afternoon enjoy an included cruise on the Zambezi River where you may see hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife.

Note: We suggest you take your own raincoat for walking in the rainforest, as those on hire are well used. There is also the option of crossing over to the Zimbabwean side of the falls for postcard views (passport and uni-visa required). This is essential in the dry water season.
Day 3
Transfer to Livingstone Airport for your flight to Lusaka and onward light aircraft flight to Mfuwe, where you will be met and transferred to the famous South Luangwa National Park.

Check into your lodge in this renowned wildlife wilderness, before setting out in the late afternoon on a bush walk or open top game viewing drive with your lodge ranger. Game is most easily sighted in the dry season from April to October, but the park is at its most beautiful in the first half of the year after the rains of the wet season.

Proflight: As you will be flying in a light aircraft, the total dimension of each checked in bag must not exceed 157 cm (i.e. length + width + height). Each person is entitled to 23 kg, with no limitation on the number of bags. You may share your allowance with others booked on the same ticket (or other family members on different reservations, as long as your surnames match). No single piece of checked baggage may weigh more than 32 kg. Due to limited space, hand baggage must be placed in the floor space under the seat in front of you and is strictly limited 30 x 25 x 15 cm in size and 5 kg in weight. Valuables must be carried in your hand luggage.
Days 4 To 5
South Luangwa National Park is Zambia’s most famous conservation area, covering an area in excess of 5,600 square miles (9,050 square kilometres). Sustained by the meandering Luangwa River, the park hosts a wide variety of wildlife, birds and vegetation. The changing seasons add to the park’s richness, ranging from dry bare bushveld in the winter to lush green in the summer.

Rise early each morning, when game viewing conditions in this pristine wildlife wilderness are at their best, either observing on foot or from a shared open top safari vehicle. With over 60 different animal species, the concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons is amongst the highest in Africa, with elephant and leopard sightings being particularly good. You can also hope to see lion, buffalo, wild dog, zebra and antelope, whilst the endemic Rhodesian (Thornicroft's) giraffe, Cookson's wildebeest and Sharpe's grysbok are found only in the Luangwa Valley.

Birding is also outstanding with over 400 different species, including large flocks of cranes. In September and October you can enjoy the amazing spectacle of thousands of southern carmine bee-eaters nesting along the river banks. From November numerous migratory birds start to arrive to exploit the feeding opportunities presented during the warm rainy season - including red-chested cuckoo, hobbies and birds of prey such as steppe buzzards that travel from as far afield as Russia.

After relaxing at your lodge during the heat of the day, in the late afternoon set out on another game activity with your ranger. In the evening relax by the campfire under a balmy African sky and hear the untamed sounds of wildlife all around.

Note: Whether game drives or bush walks are included will depend on your package (see lodge notes).
Day 6
After some early morning game viewing, transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your 1-hour light aircraft flight to Lilongwe Airport and onward flight to Likoma Island on beautiful Lake Malawi.

You will be met at the island airstrip and transferred by boat to the Mozambiquan side, where the lake's name changes to Lake Niassa. Check into your lodge and relax, overlooking this magnificent fresh water lake in the heart of the Great Rift Valley.

Note: A departure tax is payable when flying out of Mfuwe airport (domestic $7 pp / international $45 pp).
Days 7 To 8
At leisure to relax on the Mozambique shores of beautiful Lake Niassa, surrounded by hundreds of miles of woodlands.

Offering exquisite lakeside scenery & unparallelled tranquility, activities at your lodge centre around the secluded beach and the lake. Enjoy snorkelling in its crystal clear waters, canoeing and paddle boarding by day and sit around a camp fire at night. With no light pollution, star gazing is outstanding.

You can also experience an amazing sleep-out experience under the stars.
Day 9
Transfer by boat to Likoma Island for your light aircraft flight to Lilongwe Airport and your onward flight home.

Note: A departure tax of $7 pp is payable when flying out of Likoma.
