Day 1
You will be met at Dar Es Salaam Airport and transferred to your hotel.

Check in, settle in and relax in your warm East African surroundings.
Day 2
Transfer to Dar Es Salaam Airport for your light aircraft flight to remote Ruaha Game Reserve - the second largest national park in Tanzania.

Check into your safari lodge in this wildlife wilderness and enjoy a late afternoon game drive in this pristine reserve.

Note: As you will be flying in a light aircraft you must pack soft sports bags only, as rigid suitcases will not fit into the luggage pods. A baggage allowance of 15 kg (which includes your hand luggage) is strictly enforced for safety reasons.
Days 3 To 4
Today is devoted to shared game viewing in the previously inaccessible Ruaha Game Reserve, the second largest wildlife reserve in Tanzania.

Ruaha is a permanent hunting ground for lions, jackals, hyenas, cheetah and rare wild dogs which prey on zebras and antelope, with both the stunning roan and sable antelope found here as well as greater and lesser kudu. There are also thousands of elephants and buffalo and vast herds of gazelle, in beautful surroundings.

With over 450 bird species, including Eurasian migrating birds which flock to Ruaha twice a year (March/April and October/November), outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed.
Day 5
Enjoy an early morning game drive before your transfer to your light aircraft flight to the even more remote Katavi Game Reserve, the third largest national park in Tanzania but the least visited, due to its remote location

Check into your safari lodge and enjoy a late afternoon game drive in this wonderful wildlife wilderness.
Days 6 To 7
Enjoy abundant game viewing on shared game drives in the remote Katavi Game Reserve.

Lake Chada, a seasonal floodplain which lies in the centre of this vast wildlife sanctuary, is home to vast pods of hippos and crocodiles as well as huge herds of plains game on a scale seldom seen elsewhere in Africa - including elephants with huge tusks, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, lion, leopard and hyena. Bird life is also outstanding - including storks, pelicans and many other water birds.

You can drive off-road in this unspoilt wilderness and also enjoy night drives. In the evening view the pristine night skies and hear the sounds of the wild, including the roaring of lions and howling of hyenas.
Day 8
Enjoy an early morning game drive before your transfer to your light aircraft flight to Nyerere National Park, previously known as Selous Game Reserve, the largest wildlife reserve in Africa.

Check into your safari lodge in this magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its amazing diversity of wildlife and undisturbed nature, before enjoying a late afternoon game drive.
Day 9
Today enjoy early morning and late afternoon shared game viewing in the vast and little visited Nyerere National Park.

Originally named after the famous hunter and early conservationist, Frederick Courtney Selous, this great game reserve covers an area of over 21,000 square miles (54,000 square km) - making it larger than Switzerland and four times the size of the Serengeti.

As a result, many game species can be found here in greater numbers than in any other game park in Africa - including over 70% of Tanzania's elephants. Hippo, buffalo and crocodiles are abundant and lion, hyena, wild dog and rhino can also be seen. Also gnu, hartebeest, kudu, sable, eland, reedbuck, bushbuck, waterbuck, warthog, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, leopard and cheetah. There are over 350 different bird species too, including the bataleur eagle, and walking safaris are permitted.

Note: Please be prepared for some rough roads.
Day 10
After some early morning game viewing, transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Zanzibar.

You will be met at Zanzibar Airport and transferred 1-hour to your beach hotel. Check in and relax in your wonderful surroundings on this exotic East African spice island.
Days 11 To 12
At leisure to relax and enjoy the gorgeous white sandy beaches of the Zanzibar Archipelago.

Activities vary depending on the size of your resort but usually include water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing and kitesurfing. You can sail in a traditional Arab dhow or enjoy a full day catamaran excursion around the island, with snorkelling opportunities. Be sure to try their refreshing iced hibiscus tea and some of the many spices grown on this island.

The best scuba diving is around Mnemba Island in the northeast and Nungwi in the north. Deep sea game fishing is also based out of Nungwi, where there is a privately owned turtle aquarium.

A variety of day excursions are also on offer including a walking tour of historic Stone Town, a spice island tour, snorkelling at Prison Island where you can see giant tortoises, a cultural tour to Uzi Island and Swahili cookery lessons.

If you would like to see local wildlife, you can visit Jozani Forest in the south of the island, where you can see rare indigenous red colobus monkeys and walk along a mangrove boardwalk to enjoy its birdlife and flora, including some giant baobab trees. There is a Butterfly Centre and Snake Park outside the gate. From late July to mid November you can also take a boat ride to see migrating humpback whales.
Day 13
Transfer 1-hour to Zanzibar Airport for your flight home.
