Day 1
You will be met at Johannesburg Airport and transferred 1-hour to Pretoria (now called Tshwane). This city is the administrative capital of South Africa and is renowned for its jacaranda trees that flower from September to November.

On arrival enjoy a half day private tour of the highlights of this city. We visit the Voortrekker Monument and historic Church Square, where we visit the home of Paul Kruger who was the president of the old Transvaal Republic at the time of the Anglo Boer War. We also drive past the City Hall and stop for photos at the beautiful Union Buildings - the official residence of the South African president, designed by Sir Herbert Baker. Here there is an impressive statue of Nelson Mandela.
Day 2
This morning transfer 4-hours from Pretoria, travelling north through the former Transvaal to Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. After completing border fomalities at Pont Drift, transfer to your game lodge.

The Tuli Block ("Land of the Giants") is a narrow piece of land on Botswana's eastern border, wedged between South Africa and Zimbabwe. Largely uninhabited, with vast tracks of wilderness where wild animals roam free, it is famous for its large herds of elephants and magnificent baobab trees, as well as its many wonderful ancient rock formations.

In the afternoon enjoy a game drive through the reserve, which is home to many species of animals including giraffe, hippo, hyena, zebra and gemsbok - before relaxing under the stars in front of a roaring camp fire.

Note: Pont Drift border post between South African and Botswana opens at 08h00 and closes at 16h00. These border post hours are strictly enforced. Should the Limpopo River be in flood, transfer across the river into Botswana is made by cable car or by boat at a small additional cost. There is a fly-in option from Johannesburg on a Sunday and Thursday.
Days 3 To 5
Today is devoted to shared game viewing in Mashatu Game Reserve.

Rise early when game viewing conditions are at their best, for a thrilling open-top game viewing drive. Hope to see elephant, lion as well as many other fascinating animals before returning to your lodge for breakfast.

The rest of the morning is free to relax at your lodge in the heat of the day, before setting out again in the late afternoon for another game drive. Hope to see giraffe, wildebeest, kudu, antelope, waterbuck, warthogs, baboons, wild dogs, hyena and many other fascinating animals, including the elusive leopard. Outstanding bird watching is also guaranteed, with over different 400 species including the martial eagle, saddle billed stork, Pel's fishing owl, kori bustard & ground hornbill.

After a beautiful African sunset, enjoy the balmy evening and pristine stars of the Milky Way, as well as the spectacular Southern Cross.

Note: For a supplement you can enjoy morning and/or afternoon walking safaris, mountain biking safaris or horseback safaris.

Horse riding is for advanced riders only, as this is a fast ride amongst big game. Your riding skills will be assessed locally & anyone deemed not expereinced enough will not be allowed to ride, at the absolute discretion of the lodge.
Day 6
This morning transfer to the Pont Drift border post.

After completing immigration formalities, continue 5-hours southwards to Johannesburg. Check into your hotel conveniently situated near Johannesburg Airport.

Note: There is a fly-in option to Johannesburg on a Sunday and Thursday.
Day 7
Make your own way by free hotel shuttle or on foot (depending on location of your hotel) to Johannesburg Airport for your onward flight.

You will be met at Cape Town Airport and transferred to your hotel in this beautiful city, within sight of Table Mountain.

Check in and relax in your magnificent surroundings.
Day 8
Today is free for independent sightseeing in Cape Town.

To orientate yourself, we suggest you purchase a pass onboard the convenient Red Route Hop-Off Bus, which stops at all Cape Town’s key sights and attractions, including the Table Mountain cable car (discounted tickets are sold on the bus). Here you can ascend and enjoy one of the world's most famous views.

Continue to trendy Camps Bay beach and the many attractions of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront (pay all entrance fees locally).

Note: Don't let the colour of the bus confuse you. All buses are red, but they run two different routes - the Red City Route and the Blue Kirstenbosch Route.
Day 9
Today we recommend an optional full day shared tour to the beautiful Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where you may see baboons, ostrich and perhaps even dolphins or whales in season (July/November).

Your tour travels through Hout Bay and along spectacular Chapman’s Peak Drive to the Cape Point peninsula, before returning via Simons Town and Fish Hoek. This is a scenic tour of the whole Cape Peninsula, with the optional opportunity of visiting the penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

Note: Lunch is for your own account today. Group size is minimum 2 / maximum 15.
Days 10 To 11
At leisure to explore more of the beautiful city of Cape Town.

You can visit the Mandela Legacy Exhibition at the City Hall, explore the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or take the ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned (advance booking essential in season).

Day 12
Today we recommend an optional full day shared tour to the renowned Stellenbosch Winelands, travelling through the scenic Franschhoek Valley where a handful of French Huguenot refugees started South Africa’s now famous wine industry.

Note: Lunch is for your own account today. Group size is minimum 2 / maximum 15.
