You will be met at Vilanculos Airport in Mozambique and transferred to your lodge overlooking the warm Indian Ocean.
104 Horses is the incredible story of one Zimbabwean family who were evicted from their farm and trekked across to Mozambique, taking all their precious horses with them, as well as those of many of their neighbours. This is their new home on the pristine white beaches of Vilanculos, with its vast unspoilt beaches fringed by palm trees.
Check in, settle in and relax in your subtropical surroundings. In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to meet the horses and staff at the stables. You will be offered a number of horse to try in the riding school. Once you feel comfortable we will head out to the beach for a slow and relaxing ride, allowing you to become familiar with your horse and equipment. We use a combination of Wintecs, Australian stock and McClellan saddles.
On the first day we ride for 1.5-hours along the magnificent wide open beaches of this spectacular archipelago, enjoying incredible cliff-top views as we ride through pristing dune bush and along the mangrove shoreline. In the evening enjoy a fresh seafood dinner under the stars, whilst overlooking the sea.
All meals are included, but not alcohol or drinks purchased at a restaurant or bar. All riding is also included, with a weight limit of 198.5 lbs (90 kg). If Vila De Sonhos is fully booked, you will be accommodated in private homes of a similar standard. You will be provided with a fruit bowl on arrival and your fridge will be stocked with drinking water, local beer, wine and soft drinks. Pack long trousers / jodhpurs, long-sleeved shirts to avoid sunburn and mosquitoes, thick socks, riding hat, riding shoes, shorts, t-shirts, sarong, swimwear, sandals, hat, sun block, insect repellant, sunglasses on string, snorkelling equipment (mask fins & snorkel), waterproof camera, torch and malaria tablets.
