Holidays & Cruises to Antarctica & Falklands: Silverseas + Quark + Antarpply, Antarctica 21 & more
With icy landscapes that are out of this world and endless opportunities to see wildlife in the raw, holidays & cruises to Antarctica & Falklands are spellbinding. This is wilderness travel at its best for wildlife enthusiasts who enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
The wildlife here is exposed to some of the coldest and most extreme conditions on earth. Temperatures can plummet to – 50°C in the depths of winter and annual precipitation is so low that it's comparable to desert conditions. Yet this is home to the iconic Emperor penguin (made famous in Attenborough’s Planet Earth), ten species of whales as well as sea lions and marine birds such as the albatross. Seeing these creatures close up in such a challenging environment is one of travel’s greatest privileges.
Most holidays & cruises to Antarctica & Falklands set off from Ushuaia in Argentina and run in the southern hemisphere’s summer months, from November to early March. Ushuaia is the most southerly town in Argentina and the closest point to Antarctica, which is 1,200 km away. Some cruises go directly to Antarctica, whereas others include the British Overseas Territory of the Falkland Islands (also known as Las Malvinas) and South Georgia. Here you will have a friendly welcome, as well as the opportunity to explore these ruggedly beautiful islands and see many different species of marine birds, elephant seals, rockhopper, gentoo, king and Magellanic penguins.
A variety of ice-strength polar vessels are available, ranging from fairly basic expedition ships to much more luxurious options. We can help you decide between vessels such as Silverseas, Quark, Antarpply, Antarctica 21, Hurtigruten & more. A highlight of all holidays & cruises to Antarctica & Falklands are knowledgeable trip leaders and lecturers, and life on board is busy even when at sea. Each day there are lectures that cover all aspects of the polar environment and wildlife, whilst up on deck naturalists will help you to spot whales (including humpbacks and orcas) and a variety of seabirds.
We have been arranging holidays & cruises to Antarctica & Falklands on vessels such as Silverseas, Quark, Antarpply & Antarctica 21 for over 20 years.
ALL OUR HOLIDAYS & CRUISES TO ANTARCTICA & FALKLANDS ON SILVERSEAS, QUARK, ANTARPPLY & ANTARCTICA 21 ARE FINANCIALLY PROTECTED wherever in the world you live.

During your voyage your ship will sail through the legendary Drake’s Passage, where the polar water sinks beneath the warmer waters of the sub-polar region (the Antarctic Convergence) producing a nutrient rich area that attracts much wildlife.
Once in Antarctica, landings on the South Shetland Islands and the spectacularly Antarctic peninsular are by inflatable panga vessels that will take you ashore in small groups. Setting foot on this pristine frozen continent is an experience unlike any other. Led by an expedition team you’ll explore its breathtaking landscapes of towering glaciers, ice flows and volcanic peaks.
There will be many opportunities to get up close up to wildlife on holidays & cruises to Antarctica & Falklands, as you explore the Antarctic peninsula and surrounding islands. Significant penguin populations live here and you are likely to see Adélie penguins on the Tabarin Peninsula, gentoo penguins on Cuverville Island and chinstrap penguins on Half Moon Island. Landings will always be weather dependent and are carefully managed.
Some holidays & cruises to Antarctica include landings on the island of South Georgia, one of the most important breeding grounds for seabirds and penguins in the world. A highlight is the fur seal pups that can be seen on the beaches during the summer months. Once hunted almost to extinction, these seals have re-established themselves here in great numbers. South Georgia lies south of the Antarctic Convergence and its climate is considered to be polar, although it is not part of the Antarctica continent. South Georgia is also the burial place of the explorer, Sir Ernest Shackleton.
