The best time to visit KwaZulu Natal is from April to September (winter), as days are pleasantly warm but cooler at night. October to March is the hot summer, with heavy rains. The Drakensberg has a fresh mountain climate, with warm summers and cold, sunny winters with some snow.
Birding is best from October to March (the hot summer), as this is when the migrants visit.
Diving is good all year round. Migrating whales can be seen from May to December and turtles nest along the northern Zululand coast from November to January.
Deep Sea Fishing is best from November to May (marlin, sailfish, dorado, barracuda, tuna, wahoo, snoek). From June to November you can fish for kob, geelbek, garrick & tuna. Tiger Fishing is best from September to March.
