When to go to Rwanda

Rwanda is situated at a relatively high altitude close to the equator, with a pleasant tropical highland climate and plenty of rain.
 
The best time to visit Rwanda is during one of the two drier seasons - i.e June to October, which is peak season is it is cooler, or December to February when it is much hotter.
 
March to May (the 'long rains') should be avoided, as heavy downpours can make road travel and gorilla trekking very difficult. November ("the short rains") can also be quite wet.
 
Birding is good all year round, but the peak season for birding is June to October.
