Stone Camp is a rustic bush camp situated in the heart of the 10,000 hectare Mkhaya Game Reserve, surrounded by ancient fig trees, leadwood trees, knob thorn trees and giant sausage trees. Beneath this canopy, the open-sided stone and thatch cottages have low walls and pillars, with simple en-suite hot water showers. Candles and paraffin hurricane lamps are used in the evening, as there is no electricity. Enjoy morning bush walks with a park ranger to view white rhino and off-road game drives to view black rhino, roan, sable and elephant. Be aware there are no facilities to charge phones or batteries in this rural camp, which can get cold in the winter. Take only soft bags to the camp, as luggage is carried in the game-viewing landrover, where space is very limited. Leave surplus luggage in your car or luggage store in the secure parking area.
