Rise early for your transfer to Pietermaritzburg City Hall before the cock crows for the 05.30 starting gun. Feel the excitement and trepidation of your fellow runners, as you taking on one of the greatest ultra-marathon challenges in the world – running from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.
This historic race, which is renowned as much for its comradeship as for its extreme physical challenge, is run from “gun-to-gun” – with a 12-hour “drop-dead” cut-off at 17.30. Those not meeting intermediate cut-off stages will be obliged to board the rescue bus. The “Big Five” hills you will need to conquer on the down run are Polly Shorts, Inchanga, Bothas Hill, Fields Hill and Cowies Hill. Your driver will provide your pre- and post-race transfers, as well as any other logistical support you may require.
Throughout the race, friendly crowds will be lining the streets cheering you on, and willing you to the finish line in Durban. Whether you win gold, silver or bronze – this will be a race you will remember for a lifetime.
Afterwards you will be transferred to your hotel on the Durban North Coast.
Note: You are responsible for securing your own race entry.
