Day 1
You will be met at Lusaka Airport and transferred 4 to 5-hours (depending on the location of your lodge) to Kafue National Park, Zambia’s oldest game reserve.

Settle into your lodge in this great wildlife area, before setting out in the late afternoon on an open top game viewing drive with a lodge ranger. Game is most easily sighted in the dry season from April to October, but the park is at its most beautiful in the first half of the year after the rains of the wet season.
Days 2 To 3
Kafue National Park was proclaimed as a wildlife sanctuary in 1950. At 14,000 square miles (22,400 sq.km) it is the oldest and largest game reserve in Zambia, and is the size of Switzerland.

From the lush Nanzhila Plains in the south to the vast northern wetlands of the Busanga Plains that flood from March to May, this national park is a true African wilderness that sustains huge herds of wildlife fed by the Lunga, Lufupa and Kafue Rivers and boasts 21 different species of antelope. Large prides of lion, solitary leopards and cheetah are the main predators, feeding on the thousands of red lechwe, waterbuck, tsessebe, hartebeest, zebra, puku, sable, roan and diminutive oribi and duiker that live on the plains and in the woodlands. You can also hope to see buffalo and host of smaller carnivores - including wild dogs, side-striped jackal, civet, genet & mongoose.

Rise early each morning, when game viewing conditions are at their best, to view the game of this great wildlife wilderness from a shared open top game viewing vehicle. With over 60 different animal species and over 400 bird species, including four of the Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo and leopard (sadly rhino has been poached to extinction), an unforgettable game viewing experience is guaranteed.

Superb fishing for bream, barbel and pike is also available on Lunga and Kafue Rivers, which are home to large numbers of hippopotamus, crocodiles and water monitors. Each evening relax by the campfire under clear African skies in this remote wilderness and hear the untamed sounds of wildlife all around.
Day 4
This morning leave Kafue and transfer 4 to 5-hours (depending on the location of your lodge) to Lusaka for your light aircraft flight to Lower Zambezi National Park.

Check into your game lodge situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, where you can relax and enjoy the amazing river-based wildlife. Game is best sighted in the dry season from April to October, with tiger fishing at its best in September and October.
Days 5 To 6
Lower Zambezi National Park is Zambia’s newest game reserve and is relatively undeveloped, offering a true wilderness experience over 2,500 square miles (4,100 square kilometres).

The park lies opposite the famous Mana Pools reserve in Zimbabwe, so the whole area on both sides of the river is a huge wildlife sanctuary. Lower Zambezi is home to lion and leopard, as well as an outstanding array of bird life, including the African fish eagle and the bee eater. The diversity of animals is not as wide as in Zambia’s other big parks, but the opportunity to get close to game wandering in and out of the Zambezi River is spectacular.

Enjoy shared river-based game viewing, with the option of canoeing down the Zambezi River. Hippos are always in sight as well as enormous herds of elephant that come down to the river to drink. Sometimes elephants can be seen swimming across the river with their trunks raised - an amazing sight! Buffalo, zebra, waterbuck, puku, impala, kudu, baboon and a variety of other game can also be seen browsing on the banks. Tiger fishing is also excellent in the Zambezi River.
Day 7
After some early morning game viewing in Lower Zambezi, transfer to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Mfuwe.

You will be met at Mfuwe Airstrip and transferred to the famous South Luangwa National Park. Check into your lodge in this renowned wildlife wilderness, before setting out in the late afternoon on a bush walk or open top game viewing drive with your lodge ranger. Game is most easily sighted in the dry season from April to October, but the park is at its most beautiful in the first half of the year after the rains of the wet season.
Days 8 To 10
South Luangwa National Park is Zambia’s most famous conservation area, covering an area in excess of 5,600 square miles (9,050 square kilometres). Sustained by the meandering Luangwa River, the park hosts a wide variety of wildlife, birds and vegetation. The changing seasons add to the park’s richness, ranging from dry bare bushveld in the winter to lush green in the summer.

Rise early each morning, when game viewing conditions in this pristine wildlife wilderness are at their best, either observing on foot or from a shared open top safari vehicle. With over 60 different animal species, the concentration of game around the Luangwa River and its oxbow lagoons is amongst the highest in Africa, with elephant and leopard sightings being particularly good. You can also hope to see lion, buffalo, wild dog, zebra and antelope, whilst the endemic Rhodesian (Thornicroft's) giraffe, Cookson's wildebeest and Sharpe's grysbok are found only in the Luangwa Valley.

Birding is also outstanding with over 400 different species, including large flocks of cranes. In September and October you can enjoy the amazing spectacle of thousands of southern carmine bee-eaters nesting along the river banks. From November numerous migratory birds start to arrive to exploit the feeding opportunities presented during the warm rainy season - including red-chested cuckoo, hobbies and birds of prey such as steppe buzzards that travel from as far afield as Russia.

After relaxing at your lodge during the heat of the day, in the late afternoon set out on another game activity with your ranger. In the evening relax by the campfire under a balmy African sky and hear the untamed sounds of wildlife all around.

Note: Whether game drives or bush walks are included will depend on your package (see lodge notes).
Day 11
After some early morning game viewing in South Luangwa, transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your light aircraft flight to Lusaka and connecting flight to Livingstone, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel near the mighty Victoria Falls.

Check in and relax whilst you catch your first glimpses of the magnificent "Smoke That Thunders" first discovered by Dr. David Livingstone and still one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. The flow of water over the Victoria Falls is greatest from February to June following the summer rains and is a magnificent sight (but note that the Zambian side of the falls dries up in October and November, when it is better to visit the Zimbabwean side).

Note: A departure tax is payable when flying out of Mfuwe airport (domestic $7 pp / international $45 pp).
Day 12
Today we recommend exploring on foot the mighty Victoria Falls and its rainforest.

Afterwards you can participate in optional activities such as a helicopter flight over the falls or an elephant interaction.

In the late afternoon enjoy an included cruise on the Zambezi River where you may see hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife.

Note: We suggest you take your own raincoat for walking in the rainforest, as those on hire are well used. There is also the option of crossing over to the Zimbabwean side of the falls for postcard views (passport and uni-visa required). This is essential in the dry water season.
Day 13
Transfer to Livingstone Airport for your flight home.
